Terms of Use
Please read these terms carefully before using ILR Calculator UK.
Last updated: June 2026
The short version
- We are not a law firm. Nothing on this Site is legal advice, and using it does not make us your adviser.
- Our calculators are estimates based on what you enter and the published rules. The Home Office decides your application, not us.
- Check anything important with a regulated adviser before you act on it.
- The Site is free and provided as-is. We may change or withdraw tools at any time.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website ilrcalculatoruk.co.uk (the “Site”), operated by ILR Calculator UK (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Site you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are
ILR Calculator UK is an independent editorial publisher based in the United Kingdom. We produce free calculators and written guides about Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), UK settlement and British citizenship, based on the published Immigration Rules and Home Office guidance.
We are not a law firm, a firm of solicitors, or a regulated immigration adviser, and we are not affiliated with the Home Office or any government department. We do not provide immigration advice, take on cases, or represent applicants.
2. Information only, not legal advice
Everything on the Site is general information. Nothing on the Site constitutes legal advice, immigration advice, or a recommendation about what you should do in your own case. Immigration law is complex and fact-sensitive, and general information cannot account for your individual circumstances.
You should always obtain personalised advice from a regulated professional before making decisions that affect your immigration status. In the UK, immigration advice may only be given by a person regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA, formerly the OISC) or by a qualified solicitor or barrister. You can search the free GOV.UK register of immigration advisers or the Law Society’s Find a Solicitor service.
3. No adviser–client relationship
Using the Site, contacting us, or receiving a reply from us does not create any adviser–client, solicitor–client, or professional relationship between you and us. We cannot and do not accept instructions, review documents, or act for you in any matter.
4. Accuracy and calculator results
We make reasonable efforts to keep our calculators and guides aligned with the current Immigration Rules, Home Office caseworker guidance and published fees, and we record on each page the date it was last reviewed. However, the rules change frequently, sometimes at short notice, and our content may not always reflect the very latest position.
Results produced by our calculators are estimates only, generated from the information you enter and our understanding of the rules. They are not a decision, a prediction, or a guarantee of any outcome. The Home Office decides applications on their own facts and evidence and retains discretion. You must verify anything you intend to rely on against GOV.UK or with a regulated adviser before acting on it.
The Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5. Availability of the Site
We provide the Site free of charge and do not guarantee that it will be available uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, restrict or withdraw all or any part of the Site, including individual calculators and guides, at any time and without notice.
6. Acceptable use
You may use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Use the Site in any way that breaches applicable UK or international law or regulation.
- Attempt to disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, decompile, copy en masse, or otherwise interfere with the operation or security of the Site.
- Present our content as your own, or republish it commercially, without our written permission.
- Transmit unsolicited or unauthorised advertising material, malware, or harmful code.
- Use the Site or our content to provide immigration advice to others where you are not regulated to do so.
7. Intellectual property
All content on the Site, including the calculators, written guides, practice questions, design, graphics, code and trade marks, is owned by ILR Calculator UK or our licensors and is protected by United Kingdom and international copyright, database and trade mark law.
You may view the Site, download pages for caching purposes, and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use, including systematic copying, redistribution or commercial republication, requires our prior written permission. Where we reproduce material published by the UK Government, that material is used under the terms of the Open Government Licence and remains Crown copyright.
8. Information you send us
If you contact us through our contact form or by email, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are entitled to share it. You grant us a limited licence to use that information solely for the purpose of responding to your enquiry and, where relevant, correcting our content.
Please do not send us sensitive personal information, immigration case documents, passport numbers or Home Office reference numbers. We are not equipped to handle case material and cannot act on it. How we handle the information you do send is set out in our privacy policy.
9. Advertising and third-party links
The Site is free to use and may display advertising to cover its running costs. Adverts are served by third parties, including Google, and their content is not selected, written or endorsed by us. The appearance of an advert on the Site is not a recommendation, and we are not responsible for any advertiser’s products, services, claims or conduct. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them.
Please note: adverts on immigration-related pages may be placed by law firms or advice services that have no connection with us. We receive no payment for referrals, we do not sell enquiry data, and an advert appearing here should never be taken as our recommendation of that firm. Always check any adviser on the official IAA register or with the Law Society before instructing them.
The Site also contains links to third-party websites, including UK Government pages on GOV.UK and regulators such as the Information Commissioner’s Office. We provide these for convenience and are not responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of any external site.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ILR Calculator UK and its officers, employees and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss or damage, including loss of profits, business, data, goodwill, application fees, or losses arising from delay or refusal of an immigration application, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its tools, or from reliance on any content on the Site.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ILR Calculator UK and its officers, employees and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The amended version takes effect from the date it is posted on the Site, and the “last updated” date above will change. Your continued use of the Site after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining Terms shall continue in full force and effect.
